Luke Shepherd is a Devon-based portrait sculptor who works mainly in clay, casting in bronze. Amongst many renowned pieces are a portrait of Billy Connolly and a bust for the Mary Rose museum. He has the ability to not only present a physical likeness of the sitter but also capture a likeness of the personality and his portraits each convey a sense of character.
He runs many sculpture workshops and courses from his studio in Devon but has been teaching on the Sculpture for Surgeons Course since 1999.
“The hand cannot always coordinate the shapes the mind sees. The course is about closing that gap and training surgeons to understand what the eye sees so that they may use this understanding in their work “
